Plagiarism Screening
All submissions to INVESTIGATION OF LIFE SCIENCE are screened for plagiarism prior to peer review. Screening is performed using Turnitin and iThenticate, the only platforms recognized by the journal as official and valid.
Thresholds
- Similarity index: The total similarity score must be no higher than 25%. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold will be returned to the authors for revision or rejected.
- AI-generated content: The proportion of AI-generated text must be no higher than 25%.
What is screened
- Text overlap with previously published works (including the authors’ own prior publications — self-plagiarism and redundant submission are not permitted).
- AI-generated text (e.g., content produced by large language models without meaningful author contribution).
- Improperly attributed quotations, figures, or data.
Consequences of plagiarism
Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism above the journal’s thresholds, or otherwise to violate publication ethics, will be rejected. If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the article will be retracted and the authors’ institutions may be notified.
